From Books to Business: The Origins of Tucson Doggie Doors

Businesses begin in two ways: they are either a longstanding idea, planned and organized for months, with schedules checked and spreadsheets made, every contingency forseen, or they simply exist through fortuitous happenstance. Tucson Doggie Doors was born through the latter, though the idea was not wholly out of the blue. To listen to Kristen explain in her own words, please view the video below.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Kristen Korczynski was a fresh transplant to Tucson making a living mostly through remodels and other handiwork. She had grown up helping her dad with various construction, but working for someone else for her whole life was never in her plans. Through a complete whim, she decided to attend a book writing seminar where she was approached by a stranger who was looking to sell her small, niche business installing dog doors for the greater Tucson area. Kristen was intrigued. She loved animals of all varieties and had the experience working in construction; this was too intriguing an opportunity to pass up!

Taking her up on the offer, Kristen began training to install dog doors in 2017. With the understanding that she would buy the business after knowing the ins and outs of this specific home upgrade, she did not want to get started without having that knowledge. Business was not heavy, so she was able to learn without a lot of pressure.

In 2018, with training complete, Kristen established Tucson Doggie Doors. She worked out of her apartment installing doors and designing custom projects while juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet. Whenever her customers would need other services beyond just doggie doors installation, she would do what she could to assist. Installing doggie doors led to installing dog runs which led to installing pet turf which led to pet waste removal and the services continue to grow today. From humble beginnings, Tucson Doggie Doors has thrived by continuing to provide Tucson and the surrounding areas with reliable freedom and safety for families and their pets.
